So we need to talk about GAMES gawdammit.

Who here enjoys a good game of Pac Man. Does anyone know how to get past level 5? What is your high score? How the hell can you stop the pink ghost? Does N E 1 have some secret codez?

P.S. - You better post in MY PAC MAN THREAD, or I'm gonna make a new thread about you not posting in my Pac Man thread.

Nah, this forum is not for games. It's about bitching, including bitching about racism & sexism. You sexist Pac Man loving dog. What's wrong with Pac Person! ;)

I whipped Pac-Man. I figured out a pattern that could be repeated for every level. It's been long forgotten. I moved on to bigger and better games.

How does the pattern work? Can you only start the pattern from the very beginning?

How does the enemy AI work? Do the ghosts really move on their own, or are their motions entirely dependent on the user input? Does the joystick actually control the ghosts instead of Pac Man?

What would Pac Man on a CELL processor be like? Would the ghosts be too smart?

It's easier to start the pattern at the beginning, but I think it was possible to get on track later within a window of opportunity.

Pac Man with the CELL? Then the pattern would fail.

Having to memorize patterns to beat a game is pretty lame. That's probably why I got so pissed off and stopped playing Ikaruga. The only way to get anywhere with that game is to play so much that you memorize enemy attack patterns and know when to change polarities. And yes, I realize this thread was created purely to piss me off.

If 2D shooters relied on "real" AI instead of patterns, then they would blow your ass away and the game will be impossible.

I'm guessing they would probably eliminate the original blank background (that's not next gen!) and have a bunch of crappy music videos playing behind the maze during gameplay...maybe Ghostface Killah could be the featured artist as a way clever tie-in to the game theme. It would be a marvel of innovation.

My Dad figured out the patter as well which is super weird because he doesn’t like video games, computers, or technology in general. Put him on Pac-Man though and he can play indefinitely without loosing a single life. I’m lucky if I can get to level 4.

Isn't their multiple level designs? Wouldn't their be different patterns needed for different levels?

Pac-Man has the same map over and over again. The ghosts just get faster and the power pellets don't last as long. They never get faster than Pac-Man though.
